Pelvis
This work was inspired by a Roman fragment of a pelvis, by an unknown maker. I was inspired by the exciting cutoff, as well as the contrast between the soft skin of the pelvis and the metal bar on which the fragment was presented. The metal bar functions as a cold, abstract elongation of the leg. I made this work in ceramics to hint at the original work, carved from stone. The two pelvises are connected through a wooden construction/found object. I try to evoke tensions between the three materials: wood, metal and ceramics. The sculpture is a new step in my search for universal and timeless humanity.
